Glenrock Energy CEO Terrence Manning was recently featured in the Torrington Telegram following his presentation to the Torrington Rotary Club on October 13, 2025, where he shared his insights on how Wyoming’s coal resources can power America’s future through innovation, gasification, and artificial intelligence.

Reimagining Coal Through Technology

In his remarks, Manning challenged the outdated perception of coal as a “dirty” or obsolete energy source. He explained how modern gasification technology can convert Wyoming’s coal into hydrogen, CO₂, and ammonia — all within a single manufacturing facility and in compliance with the nation’s most stringent environmental standards.

“We can gasify coal,” Manning said. “We can do it so efficiently that the synthetic gas we get can then be used to develop hydrogen, CO₂, and ammonia products — all responsibly, right here in Wyoming.”

Meeting Tomorrow’s Energy Demand

Manning also addressed the growing power demand driven by data centers and AI server farms, noting that reliable, dispatchable energy will play a crucial role in supporting the next wave of digital growth.
He emphasized that Wyoming’s coal industry, paired with advanced carbon management and energy innovation, can meet that challenge head-on.

“There’s a huge push to go back to reliable energy sourcing,” Manning said. “Renewables are part of the mix, but the future depends on balance — and coal can be part of that balanced, clean energy equation.”

Education, Innovation, and America’s Advantage

Drawing on his 46 years of global energy experience, Manning encouraged investment in education and technology to prepare for the next industrial revolution shaped by AI. He reminded the audience that America’s long-standing environmental standards and technological capacity make it uniquely positioned to lead this transformation.

“We should be training at our community colleges and universities to include how artificial intelligence will touch us,” Manning said. “America is the most blessed country on this amazing globe by any standard you want to look at.”
